Matthew Silver was born and raised in Knoxville, TN, the son of a symphony violinist and one-time music school owner. He learned banjo in college, playing in a series of jug and bluegrass bands. Later, he began playing ole timey folk and early country music on guitar, and was a founding member of the Fall Creek Delta Boys in Indianapolis. Most recently, he has been playing upright bass with Second Fiddle.
The former owner of a solid wood furniture store, Silver currently is a freelance writer and manager of several properties.
Musically, his first exposure was to the chanting in the synagogue, classical records his father played, early country radio, and bluegrass on a morning TV show. Then came Elvis and all that rock and roll ….although his music buddies in college [and 1970's Little Feat] bear the lion’s share in terms of musical influence.
Matthew loves to play a round or two of golf, when time permits.
